So here is a little update and peek into what is going on at Laek House right now.
I’m working with Mike Spriggs of Gage & DeSoto and Cassette on a project titled HNF aka ‘Hats Not Faces’. The central concept behind HNF is the celebration of the teams that supported the great cyclists of the past. While Eddy Merckx is synonymous with Molteni and vice versa, we tend to overlook the riders of the team. We’re going to produce a limited edition silkscreen/mixed media poster with a few shirts tying in.
Sara Kinney and I visited with Lance Squarebuilt and Joey Krillz on Sunday to do a little filming and metal-working. I’ve been riding a Surly Steamroller with an aftermarket Vicious Cycles (road fork, disc brakes) and have always been curious about what the stock fork would feel/handle like. So I copped a stock Steamroller fork from NYC Velo, bought a disc tab from Paragon Machine Works, found the required spec sheet from Hayes and got in touch with Lance, Joey and Sara. All the filming and shooting is done and I ought to have some pictures to show in a day or two. Look for the final short at Bike Shorts in February.
Mind you, this is like 25.6% of what is happening, but the rest of it comes later.
